GOOGLE MOVES FURTHER TOWARDS A MOBILE FRIENDLY WORLD
Google changes search results: soon only mobile – compatible sites are foremost listed
The 21 of April 2015 is the day: Google will roll out changes to its search algorithm, so that mobile-friendly sites are preferred in search results. Websites whose layouts adapt to different browser widths, will appear in the search results before those that don’t.
A mobile website is, along other criteria, a site which is 320 pixels wide, and works without scrollbars in mobile format. Lots of websites don’t do this yet. Does it make any sense to the large worldwide web to be viewed on a small phone screen ? Doesn’t too much get lost?
Not if on different screens different layouts appear! With technical sophistication multi-column layouts are displayed on large screens, on mobile phones however everything is displayed in one column. And for tablets anything in between.
A mobile responsive website is a must. If you want your website to be seen that is. Mobile and tablet use continues to rise. More people surf the web now on mobile and tablet size devices compared to desktop.
